COVID PROCEDURES
The School Environment
Our school environment will be adapted, as will our timetable, to minimise cross contamination. Staff are working hard to make the classroom environment as welcoming as possible. The doors will be propped open where it is safe to do so and the rooms will be well ventilated.
The School Day
A member of the Senior Leadership and a class teacher will be at the gate to welcome the children. The children will go straight to playground and then collected by their class teacher. When they arrive at their class base they will wash their hands. Parents are asked to leave the school site in a timely manner to help to avoid congestion around the school gates. No parents will be allowed in the school building without prior appointment, all communications will need to be by email, please do not phone the school unless it is an emergency.
Hygiene and Cleaning
As part of our risk assessment we have increased the level of cleaning in school. A team of cleaners will clean the school at the start of each day and regular periods through the school day. The use of toilets will be monitored by school staff to ensure they are used safely. All children attending school will sanitise/wash their hands on arrival and regularly through the school day as well. Lidded bins will be every class base for the disposal of tissues.
First Aid will be administered by a trained first aider, PPE will be worn, a designated first aider will be in each zone in school. We will continue to administer medicine in line with our policy. We will endeavour to offer intimate care but may have to call parents if we cannot offer this in a safe manner for the child and staff member, PPE will be worn by staff offering intimate care.
Lunches
Our catering staff will be adhering to physical distancing guidance and will ensure effective hygiene procedures. School lunches will be available for your child to order. The Dining Hall will be well ventilated and cleaned between each year group.. The menu will be included in the newsletter each week. Parents can choose to provide your own packed lunch for your child if you prefer. Lunchtimes will be staggered so that different year groups do not mix and different year groups will have separate time to play in the playground.
Resources to bring to school.
The children will be required to wear school uniform. Any school resources will be washed after use. The children will keep all resources on their work station and all bags and coats will be kept on their peg. The children will come to school on their PE days in their PE kit.
If there is a confirmed case of coronavirus in the school.
The government guidelines state, when a child or staff member develops symptoms compatible with coronavirus, they should be sent home and advised to book a PCR test. They need to remain at home until they receive a negative test result. If the result is positive they need to self isolate as instructed by track and trace.
Where the child or staff member tests positive, Track and Trace will undertake an assessment to determine if other members in the school need to isolate at home for 10 days.
As part of the national test and trace programme, if other cases are detected within the child or young person’s cohort or in the wider education or childcare setting, Public Health England’s local Health Protection Teams will conduct a rapid investigation and will advise schools and other settings on the most appropriate action to take. In some cases, a larger number of other children and young people may be asked to self-isolate at home as a precautionary measure - perhaps the whole class, site or year group.
Remote Learning
The school will use dB to set work for children to complete if they are unable to attend school due to self isolating or partial closure of the school. This will be a mixture of online lessons and worksheets to complete
